Rio Celeste waterfall and hike to Tenorio National Park
The trek to the Rio Celeste waterfall from Arenal starts early in the morning, at 7:00 am and we take the route to Río Celeste, we will arrive at Tenorio Volcano National Park approximately two hours later, where we will begin our 5-mile walk (approximately 4 hours) through the dense and lush rainforest surrounding the Rio Celeste National Park.
This hike through the Tenorio volcano park and the Rio Celeste waterfall is considered intermediate. You will visit “Los Teñideros” of the Celeste River, the place where two streams of crystalline water meet and form the blue sky that gives the river its name.
We will continue our trek through the jungle to look for the vents of the volcanic furnace that expel gases of extremely high temperatures. In our decent we will see the spectacular Rio Celeste waterfall, whose color makes it unique!
The Celeste River waterfall can lose its blue color during storms. The day of the tour we check if it is raining in the area and we offer the tour for the next day or change to a different tour depending on the weather.
